Supporting Client Strategic Goals at the 18th National Indian Nations Conference

– Eulana Williams

The 18th National Indian Nations Conference, sponsored by the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), serves as a vital platform for addressing the needs of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) victims of crime. Held in Palm Springs, California, from December 10–13, 2024, the conference aligned with the client’s strategic goals—preventing crimes against vulnerable populations and enhancing victim services. It brought together tribal leaders, victim advocates, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders. Through collaborative knowledge-sharing, participants explored challenges, successes, and best practices, focusing on combating domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence within Indian Country.

At this event, I supported the Training Team as part of a Resource Hub. The client’s unified grants management system facilitates essential grant processes such as applications, awards, monitoring, and closeouts. My primary role was to provide technical assistance and guidance to attendees, ensuring they could effectively utilize the system to support their grant-related needs.

It was an honor to support over 1,500 attendees at the event. My key contributions included:

  • Assisting users with system navigation: Guiding grant applicants, award recipients, and grant managers through system workflows, addressing issues related to applications, award management, and compliance. This support empowered users to confidently and efficiently manage grants.
  • Delivering personalized, hands-on assistance: Offering hands-on, personalized assistance at the Resource Hub, providing targeted support to resolve technical concerns by emphasizing clear explanations of system functionalities to foster self-sufficiency among users.
  • Ensuring responsive service: Prioritizing responsiveness by being readily available to address technical challenges. I referred participants to appropriate resources for non-technical inquiries, such as policy or Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) questions, ensuring efficient resolution of issues.
  • Advancing the client’s strategic goals: Directly supporting the client’s strategic goals as a system trainer by enhancing grant accessibility and improving the capacity of Tribal organizations and stakeholders to manage funding effectively. This technical assistance helps advance critical victim service initiatives within AI/AN communities.

My participation in the 18th National Indian Nations Conference highlights Sky Solutions’ dedication to delivering impactful, user-focused technical support. By fostering trust in the system and ensuring its effective use, my efforts reinforced Sky Solutions’ role as a reliable partner in supporting client programs and empowering underserved communities.

The conference offered a unique opportunity to align technical training with the client’s mission to improve victim services. By providing tailored system support, I contributed to advancing critical initiatives within Indian Country while showcasing Sky Solutions’ commitment to providing high-quality, mission-driven solutions.
